Masaka Security Guard Shoots Himself, Dies on the Spot
Detectives at Masaka Central Police Station are investigating an incident of suicide by shooting that occurred at Masaka Recreation Ground on Sunday, 9 March 2025, at around 09:40 hours.
The deceased has been identified as Nasasira Joseph, a security guard.
It is alleged that three guards, the deceased, David Akwach, and Okello Bony, reported for duty at the Main Gate.
However, the deceased informed David that he had not eaten supper before requesting that he buy some food (chapati and beans), along with a note marked UGX5000 that he handed him.
Nasasira then volunteered to hold David’s gun while the latter went outside the grounds to buy food. Simultaneously, Okello Bony also went to open the upper gate for the truck carrying materials for construction.
When the duo returned to their post, they found Nasasira missing, and after a brief search, he was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
SP Twaha Kasirye, the PRO of Greater Masaka, stated that detectives from CPS visited the crime scene and recovered the weapon used in the incident.
Nasasira’s body was taken to Masaka Regional Referral Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
