Man Killed, Woman Injured in Brutal Machete Attack in Mubende

The territorial police in Mubende are actively investigating a case of murder and attempted murder that occurred on March 20, 2025, at around 6:00 PM in Kazo E Village, Kasana Parish, Kibalinga Sub-county, Mubende District.

Racheal Kawala, the police PRO for the Wamala Region, identified the deceased as Katugunda Expedito, 38, a resident of the area.

It is alleged that on the same day, at around 6:00 PM, the suspect, Kiiza Robert, 48, a casual laborer armed with a sharp panga, attacked Katugunda along the road, fatally striking him on the head.

After the murder, the suspect fled the scene and, about 500 meters away, attacked Tugumisiriza Beatrice, 55, in her garden, leaving her critically injured.

“Our task team, led by the DPC Mubende, visited, examined, and documented the crime scene. The injured victim was rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, while the deceased’s body was taken to the same hospital’s mortuary pending a postmortem,” said Kawala.

She explained that on March 21, 2025, at around 9:00 AM, the police successfully rescued the suspect from a mob attempting to lynch him. He sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.
