Man killed as another commits suicide by hanging in Kabale & Rubanda districts respectively

The Police in Kabale is investigating unclear circumstances under which one Twikyirize Milton a 55-year-old resident of Nyakabungo cell, Mwanjari ward, southern division in Kabale district was murdered by unknown assailant(s).

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, the deceased had injuries on his forehead.

It is alleged that in the morning hours of 16/10/2021, the deceased left home for work, the wife Barigye Mary says. However, he never turned home until Sunday 17/10/2021 at around 07:00 am, when he was found dead in Rwamukundi cell, Mwanjari ward southern division in Kabale district.

Police were notified, proceeded to the scene, and recorded witness statements to help in investigations. The deceased’s body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Meanwhile,

Police are investigating the death by suicide in Mumparo cell Nyarubanga Rubanda Town Council, where one Ayebare Celestine a 28-year-old man hang himself in his sitting room.

Maate says that the deceased’s wife Niwagaba Ustine told police that her husband spent the evening drinking alcohol from Nyamiyaga trading center.

He later went home drunk and started telling his wife that he wanted to commit suicide.

She then called the area chairperson one Turihohabwe Martin on phone telling him about it.

However, at around 2200hrs, the deceased allegedly locked her in the bedroom and went to the sitting room. Ustine called their 8-year-old daughter to open for her.

Upon checking the sitting room, she found the deceased hanging on a pole of the wall.

Police was called to the scene led by D/Asp Aine Bernice, D/Soco, and Dr. Kutunguka from Muko HCIV. 

Post mortem done at the scene and inquiries are at hand.
