Man Arrested for Murder in Tororo After Police Dog Traces Scent to His Home
Police in Tororo are holding a man identified as Loketo Musa, a resident of Malaba North Cell in Malaba Town Council, in connection with the murder of a woman identified as Rehema, a Kenyan national.
Preliminary investigations indicate that on 08/12/25, at around 0600 hours, residents of Malaba North Cell woke up to find the lifeless body of a woman lying in a pool of blood, prompting immediate alarm within the community.
Officers from the K-9 unit deployed a police dog, “Vegas,” to the scene. The dog picked up a human scent and tracked it through several corridors for approximately 100 meters, eventually leading officers to the suspect’s bedroom.
According to a police report, although Musa was not initially found at home, he was later traced and arrested. A subsequent search, conducted in the presence of the area chairperson, revealed bloodstains inside the suspect’s room and on the door.
Police also recovered quantities of dried marijuana from the room. The exhibits, including blood samples, were collected as investigations continue.
