Mabira Accident Leaves Two Dead, Three Injured

Two people have died and three others sustained injuries following a road accident that occurred at around 9:10 PM on 7 April 2026 at Buwola in Mabira.

The crash involved two vehicles: a white Toyota Harrier, registration number UBE 827M, driven by Isabirye Absolom, 43, a resident of Entebbe; and a white Isuzu ELF, registration number UBQ 353D, whose driver fled the scene after the accident.

According to SP Hellen Butoto, the PRO for Ssezibwa Region, both vehicles were traveling from Jinja towards Kampala. Upon reaching Buwola, the Isuzu ELF reportedly rammed into the rear of the Toyota Harrier, pushing it into water where it overturned. Two people died on the spot, while three others, including the Harrier driver, sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Mutesi Hadijah, a resident of Gayaza in Wakiso District, and Kyokusiima Annet, a resident of Lubowa in Wakiso District.

The injured victims have been identified as Nabakooza Sumaya, 34, a female adult and resident of Namungona, Rubaga Division in Kampala; Annet Nakyega, a resident of Makindye Division in Kampala; and Isabirye Absolom of Entebbe.

The injured were rushed to Kawolo Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the same facility for postmortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for the driver of the Isuzu ELF, who remains at large.
