Lira Police Investigate Suspected Suicide of Local Headteacher

The police in Lira-City West Division are investigating the suspected suicide of Shadick, the Headteacher of Okio Primary School in Aromo Sub-County, Lira District.

According to reports, on the night of June 24, 2024, at around 1:00 AM, Shadick left his house, where he was sleeping with his wife, Sharafina, to go outside. He did not return.

At 7:00 am, he was found dead, hanging from a mango tree a few meters from his house.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the PRO for the North Kyoga Region, stated that a team of police officers from the Lira City West Division, led by the head of homicide, responded to the scene.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem examination.

Okema urged the relatives to remain calm and patient, awaiting the postmortem report, which will determine the next steps in the investigation.
