Kisoro Man Arrested Over Alleged Murder of Brother

Police in Kisoro District have arrested a 40-year-old man, Pascal Dusabe, in connection with the alleged assault of his biological brother, Michael Mujanamana (37), which led to his death.

The incident occurred on 28 December 2025 at around 11:00 p.m. at Mpundu Cell, North Ward, Chahafi Town Council, Kisoro District.

According to the Kigezi Region Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Elly Maate, preliminary investigations indicate that earlier that evening, at around 9:00 p.m., Dusabe Pascal and his brother, Mujanamana Michael (now deceased), developed a misunderstanding while drinking local alcohol at Chuhumba Trading Centre. A fight reportedly broke out but was stopped by people who were present.

Police further allege that at around 10:00 p.m., Mujanamana Michael left the bar and told his friends he was going home. However, he instead went and waylaid his brother at their father’s home. At about 10:40 p.m., Dusabe Pascal also left the trading centre and headed home, where the two brothers allegedly resumed fighting upon his arrival.

The two reportedly fought for nearly 30 minutes as their other brother, Rukundo Ronald, attempted to separate them. During the struggle, both men allegedly rolled down a valley approximately 30 metres deep, where Mujanamana Michael is said to have struck his head on a rock and died instantly.

Upon realising that his brother had died, Rukundo Ronald reported the incident to the Officer-in-Charge of Murora Police Station, who responded to the scene and arrested the suspect. Dusabe Pascal has since been charged with murder.

The scene of the crime was visited, processed, and documented by D/ASP Babiiha Johnson and his team. Statements from key witnesses have been recorded, and the body of the deceased has been conveyed to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
