Karimojong Warrior shot dead by UPDF Soldiers in Nakapiripirit

One person has been shot dead by soldiers at an Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF detachment for allegedly tip-toeing around the area.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon at Lomorunyangae, Namalu Subcounty, Nakapiripirit District.

According to Micheal Longole the Karamoja region police spokesperson, the deceased was a Karimojong warrior identified as Willy Teko, a resident of Lubo village, Kosike sub-county, Nabilatuk District.

Longole says that the deceased was a son of the LC 3 chairperson of Kosike sub-county.

“According to our intelligence the motive of the deceased was to kill soldiers and steal arms and ammunition,” he said. Longole said that security does not take it lightly when warriors surveil military facilities, saying they have lost guns and soldiers in search manner.

However, Andrew Lokut, a resident of Tokora trading center in Nakapiripirit district described the shooting as unacceptable and urged the forces to act professionally.
also, Margaret Losike, another resident said the soldier who shot dead their son on suspicion should be arrested and investigated.

Police visited the scene and by press time, the body was still lying at Lomorunyangae UPDF detach pending the arrival of the relatives.

“More inquiries are still ongoing. We request leaders to be exemplary and help security forces in the disarmament process. May His soul rest in Eternal peace,” Longole said.
