KACITA Acting Chairman Arrested Over Incitement and Assault on Police Officers

The Police at Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala have arrested Issa Sekito, the acting Chairman of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), to assist in ongoing investigations into incidents of incitement and assault on police officers.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Sekito was taken into custody on Thursday, November 6, 2025. “The team is yet to record his statement and prefer appropriate charges against him,” ASP Owoyesigyire said in a statement.

He also confirmed the arrest of thirteen other suspects on Wednesday for allegedly inciting violence and assaulting police officers who were on lawful duty. The case file has since been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal advice.

Owoyesigyire urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid engaging in unlawful acts that may lead to violence or disrupt public order.

“We continue to urge members of the public to desist from acts that may incite violence or threaten the safety of others, particularly those who have chosen to open their shops and continue with normal business in the city centre,” he said.

He added that the Police will maintain a visible presence and deployment within the city centre to deter any illegal activities and ensure that law and order prevail.
