House collapses killing 2 boys, injuring their mother and sister

Two children have died while their mother and 6-year-old sister are fighting for their lives after a house collapsed on them. The deceased are Omara James, 3 years old, and another child who was only identified as Omita, 1 and a half years old. Those injured include their mother, Nyakecho Christine, 30 years old, and Akello Juliet, 6 years old, all residents of Minembe ‘B’ Siwa Parish, Mulanda Sub-county in Tororo District.

IP Mugwe J Moses, Ag. PRO of Bukedi South Region, says that the incident happened on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, at around 2:00 PM when the victims were having lunch at the house of Ocho James. According to Mugwe, the two boys died on the spot while the girl and their mother were seriously injured.

It is also reported that the victims were in a semi-permanent house. A team of officers from Mulanda Police Station visited the scene and rushed the two victims to Tororo Main Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also taken to the same hospital for a post-mortem examination.
