Four knocked dead by reckless taxi driver in Bundibugyo
Four people are dead and one other is in critical condition after a vehicle lost control and knocked them while trying to cross the road along the Bundibugyo- Fort-Portal road in Bundibugyo district.
The accident occurred on Friay evening at Bugama village, in the middle of Semuliki National Park, when a speeding taxi registration number UBH 654J lost control and hit the four who were trying to cross the road. The deceased persons were from collecting firewood in a nearby forest.
The four have been identified as Kabasinguzi Kelvin, Kobusinge Grace, Muhindo Medren and Asaba Kyamunye. The fifth victim was critically injured and rushed to Bundibugyo hospital for management.
According to the area LCII Mugisa Magama, two of the victims died on the spot while the other two were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. He adds that the driver was overspeeding.
Meanwhile, Bundibugyo DPC Aggrey Okumu says they have opened up investigations to establish the possible cause of the accident.
