Commissioner Byabashaija launches COVID-19 Vaccination in Prisons
Uganda prisons services, UPS commissioner Johnson Byabashaija has Tuesday launched the vaccination exercise at his office in Kampala.
Byabashaija received his jab this morning and noted that doctors have explained that the side effects of AstraZeneca vaccine are more bearable than getting the virus.
“If you are of advanced age like us above 60, you are very vulnerable to this virus. Therefore, I applaud everybody who was involved to make sure that we get a vaccine. I want to believe this is the beginning of the end of COVID-19 in prisons” Byabashaija said.
He added that the vaccine is going to offer them protection against the virus, explaining that they were very rough in prisons to ensure they don’t get the virus.
One inmate died of COVID-19 while more than 100 others have tested positive for the disease since March 2020.
