Candidate, Invigilator Caught With Exam Answers in Butebo

Police in Butebo District have registered a case of examination malpractice after a Primary Seven candidate and an invigilator were found in possession of unauthorised materials during the ongoing Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The incident occurred on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Tekwana Primary School, Tekwana Parish, Kakoro Sub-county.

According to ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson, the candidate, identified as Onyangan Richard (index number 435893/058), was discovered with a handwritten piece of paper containing answers while in the examination room.

Further investigations revealed that the invigilator, Akia Florence, was also found with four pieces of handwritten answers matching the candidate’s material. The materials were confiscated by Mbusa Charles, the district examination monitor, who reported the matter to the police.

Police have registered the case under Butebo SD reference 39/03/11/2025 of CPS, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the malpractice.

“The papers have been confiscated and are yet to be exhibited. Investigations are underway,” ASP Kyempasa said.
