Bushenyi Couple Found Dead in Suspected Murder and Suicide
The territorial police in Bushenyi District have launched investigations into a tragic incident of suspected murder and suicide that occurred on October 4, 2025, in Kansingyesa Village, Nyeibingo Parish, Ruhumuro Sub-county.
According to police, the incident involved Kyokusiima Miriam, a 39-year-old woman, and her husband, Rubongyera Nelson, aged 36. Preliminary findings indicate that Kyokusiima was found dead with deep cut wounds on her neck, arms, and legs, while her husband was later discovered hanging in their sitting room.
Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson SP Tayebwa Apollo says police responded promptly to the scene, managed it according to standard procedure, and conveyed both bodies to Kyabugimbi Health Centre IV for postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
At the scene, detectives recovered a blood-stained panga lying near the body of Kyokusiima, which was documented as an exhibit in the ongoing investigations.
SP Tayebwa noted that investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the suspected murder and subsequent suicide.
“We offer our condolences to the children of the deceased and appeal to anyone with information that may help conclude this investigation to come forward and assist police,” SP Tayebwa said.
He also condemned acts of violence and lawlessness, particularly those arising from domestic misunderstandings, urging members of the public to seek peaceful and lawful means of resolving conflicts.
The police have assured the community that all efforts are being made to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
