Bugweri Police Nab 18 Members of Notorious Fangone Forest and Gaza Gangs

Intelligence agencies have conducted an operation leading to the arrest of 18 suspected criminals in Bugweri District, following public concern over rising cases of robbery, phone snatching, and other criminal activities in the area.

According to ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional Spokesperson for Busoga East, the intelligence-led operation was carried out on Sunday, April 5, 2026, from midnight to 5:30 am in Idudi A, B, and C. The operation targeted suspected members of the notorious criminal gangs known as Fangone Forest and Gaza.

The suspects arrested include Kirunda Tarvin (17), Magumba Aziz (21), Lwayi Keneth (17), Kisambira Hamidu (18), Kasadha Arony (20), Sajabi Jackson (20), Kaziba Salim (20), Kisambira Abasi (20), Mudasi Kuzaifa (29), Mudasi Binasali (18), Tenywa Rahim (22), Muwaya Twahiri (20), Kisambira Sudaisi (20), Mulongo Grace (25), Walyaka Amisi (21), Matende Rahim (21), Musobya Aramanzan (17), and Mulondo Jamada (19).

Kasadha noted that during the operation, Mulondo Jamada allegedly grabbed a panga and attempted to attack the Officer in Charge of Bugweri, ASP Nagolo Robert, but was subdued. In the process, he reportedly bit off part of the officer’s left ear and has since been charged with attempted murder.

He further stated that Kaziba Salim and Muwaya Twahiri were found in the company of female juveniles aged 17 and 13, respectively, leading to charges of defilement. The juveniles were rescued and taken for medical examination.

Exhibits recovered during the operation include a Uganda flag, a Fangone Forest flag, seven suspected stolen smartphones, a 32-inch television set, among other items.

Kasadha added that investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend more suspects.
