Bobi Wine Rallies Thousands in Tororo, Calls for Change and End to Corruption
The National Unity Platform (NUP) president and presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, held a series of campaign rallies in Tororo District on Thursday, October 16, 2025. During these rallies, he urged residents to embrace change and join his fight for a new Uganda.
Kyagulanyi entered Tororo District from Mbale at around 10:30 a.m. in a convoy of about 30 vehicles carrying NUP supporters. His first stop was at Mahanga Primary School in Nagongera Town Council, where he addressed supporters for more than an hour.
From Nagongera, the NUP leader’s convoy passed through Mulanda, Siwa, Pajwenda, and Iyolwa, before arriving in Tororo Municipality at around 3:40 p.m.
There, he commissioned the new NUP offices at Water Village in the Western Division before holding his final rally at King George Stadium in Tororo Town.
He was accompanied by several senior NUP officials, including Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi (Party Spokesperson), David Lewis Rubongoya (Secretary General), Lina Zadrigo Waru (Deputy President, Northern Uganda), Hon. Nabeshe John Baptist (MP, Bududa), Hon. Kiiza Andrew (Head of Mobilisation, Eastern Region), Osilo Chrispine (Tororo District Chairperson), and Samuel Oyuku (West Budama South Mobilizer).
During his speeches, Kyagulanyi urged the people of Tororo to advocate for change and improved infrastructure, citing the poor state of roads in Nagongera. He also condemned rampant corruption within the ruling government and rallied supporters to join him in the fight for national transformation.
Kyagulanyi promised to release political prisoners held “innocently” in jail if elected president, and pledged to improve the welfare of civil servants, and revamp education and health services across the country.
The NUP candidate criticised the government for transferring clearing and forwarding operations from Malaba to Nakawa and decried the declining value of cotton in the Bukedi region, saying farmers deserve fair compensation.
He therefore encouraged residents to vote for NUP candidates at all levels to ensure what he called a complete political transformation.
The final rally at King George Stadium attracted at least 4,000 supporters, mostly youths and children.
According to the district security report, the campaign activities proceeded peacefully, with only minor incidents recorded.
Kyagulanyi concluded his address at around 6:20 p.m., before departing Tororo via the Tororo–Jinja Road en route to Bugiri District for the next phase of his campaign.
