Armed assailants attack, threaten family of Bunyangabu Legislator Kamukama Davis
Detectives at Kawempe Police station are investigating a case involving threats of violence, criminal trespass, and assault which occurred at the home of Hon. Kamukama Davis, the Member of Parliament for Bunyangabo constituency in Komamboga Central, on the 10th of January 2024, at 1440 hours.
The victims have been identified as Twinembabazi Juliet (22 years old) and Gidong Jalia (18 years old), who serves as a house helper.
Patrick Onyango, the PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police, stated that preliminary information from the victims indicates that three armed men forcibly entered the residence of Hon. Kamukama, the Member of Parliament for Bunyangabo constituency. The MP was not present at home during the incident. However, the assailants found Twinembabazi Juliet, who is an in-law to the MP, along with Gidong Jalia and a child.
Upon entering the premises, two unidentified assailants, armed with knives, approached the victims, proclaiming death threats against the MP’s life. A third individual, positioned at the doorway, was allegedly carrying a long black bag suspected to contain a rifle.
After failing to locate the MP inside the house, the assailants forcefully confined Gidong Jalia and the child in the toilet, locking the door. Twinembabazi was also confined to the driver’s room. Twinembabazi used a curtain rod to strike the glass window, raising an alarm and drawing the attention of neighbors.
According to Onyango, this prompted the assailants to escape through a maize plantation. An eyewitness informed police officers who responded to the scene that they saw the assailants changing their clothes outside the fence.
