Health Ministry postpones for 2 weeks, mandatory COVID-19 testing at the Airport

Uganda has postponed for two more weeks, mandatory testing for all incoming passengers at Entebbe International Airport.

The Ministry of Health had directed that effective September 3, all incoming passengers regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated against covid-19 or have negative results, will undertake mandatory testing at Entebbe Airport. 

The Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng was expected to head a team to inspect the airport and testing center on Thursday to assess the readiness of Port Health service providers in conducting the mandatory tests.

However, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona says the inter-ministerial committee has resolved that the directive is postponed for two weeks.

Ainebyoona said on Twitter, that the committee will visit the airport to assess the preparedness.

Meanwhile, Laboratories have also been given extra time to prepare and set up machines at Peniel Beach, where the testing will be conducted.
