Man arrested over sister’s suspected suicide

The police in Nakapiripirit District, have arrested Mungan Isaac, a resident of Lokwasinyon village, Kawach Subcounty, following the suspected suicide by hanging of his sister, Nachap Hellen, a 21-year-old resident of the same address, on 15/11/2023, around 11:00 am.

According to IP Longole Mike, the Ag. PRO Mt Moroto/ASTU, it is alleged that Mungan lent his sister 3000 Shillings, of which she spent and did not return the balance of Shs 7000 from the Shs 10,000 note he gave her.
On 15/11/2023, around 10:00 am, Mungan confronted his sister, who had used up the money, leading to a quarrel and a minor fight.

An hour later, Nachap was found dead, hanging from a tree behind their mother’s house. Following her death, Mungan attempted suicide but was prevented by residents, who then handed him over to the police.
Mungan is currently held at Namalu Police Station for further investigations.

By press time, Nachap’s body was still at the scene awaiting postmortem examination, while a team of investigators prepared to revisit and reassess the incident site.
