AMDA applauded for emphasizing economic empowerment in their framework

Leaders within the laity of Mbarara Archdiocese have been assigned the crucial responsibility of propagating the message of Economic Empowerment among the people under their guidance, with the aim of eradicating poverty from households in the village.

This call was articulated by Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire, the Minister of Internal Affairs, on the occasion of a fundraising dinner organised by the St. Francis Ibanda Parish Kampala Community. The event took place on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at the Protea Hotel.

Otafiire stressed the need for followers to aspire towards prosperity, as he emphasized that poor people might encounter barriers to entering God’s Kingdom. He went on to encourage leaders to internalize the notion that leadership inherently entails challenges. He suggested that the presence of challenges serves to validate the necessity for leadership, implying that leaders are essential precisely because difficulties exist.

Commending the leaders associated with the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA), Otafiire acknowledged their inclusion of Economic Empowerment as a fundamental pillar within their framework.

He further appealed to these leaders to approach their roles not as opportunities for personal gain at the expense of those they lead, but rather as chances to wholeheartedly serve the community without expecting compensation.

The AMDA Caravan constitutes an annual event that centers on a selected parish identified by the association as requiring not only developmental discourse but also a medical outreach encompassing diverse ailments. The caravan shall take place at Ibanda Parish from 8th to 10th September 2023. The team shall also visit Kihani Parish on 8th.

The forthcoming medical camp for this year is slated for September 9th, 2023, at St. John Fisher Ibanda Secondary School. This initiative is meant to deliver medical care to patients hailing from Ibanda and neighbouring districts such as Kamwenge, Kitagwenda, Kazo, and Buwheju, among several others.

Rev Fr Dr Paul Mutume the Parish Priest for Ibanda Parish called on all people of Ibanda to come for the Medical camp as it does not discriminate in faith, political affiliation or age. He emphasized Ibanda Parish’s readiness to host their guests.

Dr Patrick Bitature who hosted the dinner at his hotel also applauded Ibanda Parish team for the flawless organization of the upcoming event, noting that the caravan is a suitable means to give back to the community.
