Thugs break into Kasawo Secondary school, steal computers
Detectives at Nagalama Police Station are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Kasawo Secondary School in the early hours of today.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP says a group of thugs suspected to be armed entered the school and tied up the private security guards before breaking into the school’s administration office and Bursar’s office.
They made away with three computers and other items of value.
“Upon receiving the report, the police responded immediately to the scene. The area was cordoned off and a canine unit was brought in to aid in the investigation. Two of the private security guards were injured and rushed to the hospital, two others are still at the school while two others are at large,” says Owoyesigyire.
He adds that during the investigation, detectives discovered that the school’s money safe was faulty hence, not being used. The two Bursars who were using one office claimed that they had 63 million shillings in a wooden old drawer.
Further investigation revealed that the three computers that were stolen had been recently interconnected by the new headmaster, suggesting that they were specifically selected. Two of the Bursars have been arrested to assist in the investigation.
A meeting was held at the school with the District Police Commander, members of the Parent-Teacher Association, and the Board chairs and members to discuss the incident and plan the way forward.
The police urged anyone with information that could help in the investigation to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
