Gunman kills businessman, injures another in Agago district

The Police in Agago District are hunting for an unknown gunman connected to the murder by shooting and aggravated robbery that took place on 23/11/2022 at around 2000hrs within Kalongo Town council market square in Agago District.

According to Ongom David Mudong the PRO Aswa river, preliminary findings indicate that on Wednesday evening at around 2000hrs, an unidentified gunman dressed in civilian attire, a face mask and a head hood, walked into the shop of Komakech Joseph aged 52 years (Deceased) and started asking for money.

In the process, the gunman shot him six times in the back and the shoulder before shooting another victim identified as Opiyo Joel aged 26 years four times in the back and hips. He later flee from the scene with an unspecified amount of money.

The victims were rushed to Kalongo Hospital where Komakech later died while Opio is in a life-threatening condition.

Mudong says that detectives and the SOCO are yet to document the scene and gather materials of evidential value to back up investigations. He also condemned the attack.

“We do condemn the cowardly acts of killing innocent civilians and we would like to assure the people of Kalongo to remain calm and cooperate with all the security components with relevant information that can be of importance to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and brought to book,” says Mudong.
