Over 30 people arrested with Global Alliance workers by Soroti police

The police of Soroti CPS have today Wednesday arrested the leadership of Global alliance who had gathered over 30 people for training.

Those arrested include Aziz Simon Enock Edwo from Serere district, Atinyi Edward from Mbarara district, Emagu William from Kaberamaido district, and Nakato Fiona Adyeri from Masindi district.

A total of about 30 persons inclusive of the trainers and the trainees who had gathered at the venue for what the police referred to as an illegal activity were also rounded up with the leaders who were allegedly recruiting people for jobs.

They are all detained at CPS Soroti.

According to SP Ageca Oscar Gregg the PRO, East Kyoga, the arrest followed intelligence at Atooti within Soroti City.

The leaders of Global Alliance had recruited people from Busoga, Lira, Soroti, Pallisa and other places within the country under the guise of offering them well-paying jobs at a fee.

The individuals paid between nine hundred thousand shillings (900,000/=) and one million three hundred thousand shillings (1,300,000/=).

“We appeal to the public to be wary of unsolicited promises of Jobs, money and privileges that are not earned. This can lead to them being conned of their hard-earned monies, or trafficked for the benefit of unscrupulous persons,” said Ageca.
