70-Year-Old Man Held Over Brother’s Murder in Kibuku

Police in Kibuku District have arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly murdering his elder brother in cold blood. The incident occurred on the evening of 31st July 2025 at around 7:00 PM in Natoto Central Village, Natoto Parish, Buseta Sub-county.

The deceased has been identified as Sinini Lawrence, 77, a Mugwere and resident of the same village. The suspect is his younger brother, Mutundi Sebastian, also a resident of Natoto Central.

According to ASP Kyempasa Wilfred, the Public Relations Officer for Bukedi North Region, it is alleged that the suspect attacked the deceased while he was asleep in his room after returning from a local bar. He reportedly used a hoe to strike the victim on the head and inflicted deep cuts on his neck and both hands.

ASP Kyempasa explained that the incident was first reported by Okoboi Patrick, a resident who informed the area LC1 Chairperson, Batwala Moses, while he was operating his shop at Natoto Centre. The Chairperson quickly rushed to the scene, confined the suspect in his room, and immediately alerted Kibuku Central Police Station (CPS).

A team of officers led by the District Police Commander, SP Dickens Turyatemba, accompanied by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), the Homicide Unit, and the Officer-in-Charge of CID, visited the scene to commence investigations.

Statements were recorded from witnesses and family members, and the scene was thoroughly documented. A hoe stained with blood was recovered from the deceased’s room and has been secured as evidence.

The suspect is currently in custody at Kibuku CPS, while the body of the deceased was taken to Kibuku Health Centre for a postmortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
