64 Suspects Arrested in Joint Night Security Operations Across Kampala Metropolitan
The Uganda Police Force, in coordination with sister security agencies, has intensified intelligence-led disruptive operations across the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety.
According to SP Kawala Racheal, the PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, joint task teams mounted coordinated night operations on March 2, 2026, between 8:00 pm and 2:00 am. The operations targeted identified black spots where suspected criminals allegedly gather to plan attacks, sell narcotics, smoke opium, and later waylay unsuspecting members of the public.
In the Jinja Road Division, operations were conducted in Naguru Go Down, Bank Village, and Naguru Village in Nakawa Division, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.
In Mukono District, a joint intelligence-led operation was carried out in Wanyonyi, Namuyenje, Kyetume, and Nagwa, resulting in the arrest of 18 suspects.
In Kira Road Division, security teams targeted Kiwatule (Waniduuka) and Kamwokya, where 36 suspects were apprehended.
Meanwhile, in Kira Division, operations conducted in Najjera, Kalintunsi, and Bulabira led to the arrest of two suspects.
In total, 64 suspects were arrested during the coordinated night operations. All suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution.
Police also recovered exhibits during the operations, including suspected narcotic substances and housebreaking implements.
SP Kawala urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing timely and credible information, emphasising that community collaboration remains key to keeping neighbourhoods safe.
