28-Year-Old Man Arrested in Gulu Over Suspected Defilement of 3-Year-Old Child
Police at Gulu City East Policing Division have arrested a man, Okot Emmy Odoki, aged 28, in connection with a case of aggravated defilement involving a three-year-old child. The incident reportedly occurred on July 8, 2025, in Yoo-Leng Cell, Laroo-Pece Division, Gulu City.
According to ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Police Spokesperson for the Aswa West Region, preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had gone to buy cassava chips from the child’s mother. While she was attending to other customers, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the moment, disappeared with the child, and later abandoned her in an unfinished structure within the same area.
A report was filed with the assistance of the area LC1 Chairperson, leading to a coordinated search. The suspect was arrested the following day, July 9, 2025.
Police detectives visited the scene of the incident, and statements have been recorded from the suspect and other relevant witnesses to support ongoing investigations.
Both the child and the suspect have undergone medical examinations using Police Forms 3A and 24A, respectively, as part of the investigation process.
“We urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure children are not left in vulnerable situations that may expose them to potential harm,” said ASP Ongom. “The police strongly condemn this heinous act and are committed to thoroughly investigating the matter to its logical conclusion so that justice is served.”
Upon completion of investigations, the case file will be submitted to the Resident State Attorney for legal guidance and further action in court.
