Two people have died following an explosion of a gas cylinder that occurred at 9:50 a.m. at Sembule A, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District today, Thursday October 17th, 2024.

The deceased have been identified as Andrajt Baraya, an Indian national, and Amos, a Ugandan national, who were operating an oxygen plant during their day shift when a gas cylinder exploded, resulting in their immediate deaths.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Public Relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police says that the Police, together with experts, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion and working to determine its cause.

“We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding this unfortunate event,” says Owoyesigyire.
