The Mbale City police are searching for a man, identified only as Iman, in connection with the death of a 15-year-old student from Nakaloke SS in Mbale City.

The incident occurred at Grace Guest House in Namakwekwe Ward, Northern Division, on Sunday, 23rd March 2025.

The victim, identified as Sumaya Binti Edrisa, was a Senior Two student at Nakaloke SS and a resident of Dr. Gesa Cell, Namunsi Ward, in Mbale City.

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon regional police spokesperson, initial reports indicate that on 23rd March 2025, at around 9:00 am, a receptionist at Grace Guest House, Nabende Peter, received a client who checked into Room 11 and informed the manager, Sande Edrine, that someone would be joining him later.

However, at approximately 1:00 pm, the receptionist discovered the lifeless body of the girl inside the suspect’s room. Shortly after, the suspect allegedly called the guesthouse manager using the deceased’s phone, instructing them to check the room.

The guesthouse staff immediately alerted the owner, who reported the matter to Nkoma Police Station. Police officers arrived at the scene, gathered evidence, and documented relevant statements. The body was later transported to Mbale City mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Taitika confirmed that the guesthouse manager, Sande Edrine, has been taken into custody to assist with investigations.
