15-Year-Old Dies in Namayingo Motorcycle Accident

Police in Namayingo have launched investigations into the cause of a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy.

The deceased has been identified as Sanya Edwin, a resident of Budidi Cell, Budidi Ward in Namayingo Town Council.

According to ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional Spokesperson for Busoga East, the incident occurred in Bulamba Cell, Bulamba Ward, within Namayingo Town Council. Preliminary findings indicate that on Sunday, April 6, 2026, at around 4:00 pm, the juvenile was walking by the roadside along Jinja Highway when he was knocked by a motorcycle whose registration number is yet to be established.

He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Shalom Medical Centre, where he was later pronounced dead.

The motorcycle rider, identified as Kabende Vincent, sustained head injuries and was admitted to Victory Medical Centre for treatment, and he will be charged accordingly.

Kasadha stated that traffic officers visited the scene, and the deceased’s body remains at Shalom Medical Centre pending a postmortem examination.

Preliminary investigations point to overspeeding as the likely cause of the accident, although further inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. He added that the motorcycle involved was removed from the scene by unknown persons, and efforts to trace and impound it are underway.

Kasadha urged motorists to respect other road users.
