15 Suspects Arrested in Mukono Police Operations Against Robbery, Drug Crimes

Police in Mukono District have arrested 15 suspects in separate intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing rising cases of aggravated robberies and drug-related offences in the area.

According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the operations were carried out on October 7, 2025, in collaboration with local defense teams.

The first operation took place around 3:00 p.m. in Ntinda Zone, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono Municipality. It targeted criminal gangs that have been terrorising residents with pangas, attacking homes, stealing property, and injuring victims.

During the operation, police arrested 15 suspects, seven of whom are wanted in connection with aggravated robbery cases. Officers also recovered dangerous weapons, including pangas and knives, as well as quantities of opium found on the suspects and in their hideouts.

Earlier the same day, around 12:00 p.m., Mukono Police conducted another intelligence-led operation in Bugujju Cell, Nsube Kauga Ward, Mukono Central Division, near Uganda Christian University (UCU).

The operation, carried out jointly by the UCU Police team and the Bugujju area defense unit, led to the arrest of Wodiya Edrine, who was found in possession of opium, grinders, filters, wrappers, and Codeine syrup drugs. He was charged with possession of opium.

Police said the operations are part of a wider crackdown on robbery, drug abuse, and related crimes across the Mukono policing area. Previous operations have resulted in the arrest of habitual offenders and recovery of stolen property and illicit substances, including marijuana.

SSP Onyango noted that such intelligence-led operations demonstrate the police’s proactive approach to tackling crime hotspots through collaboration with local communities and defense teams.

He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to maintaining security across Mukono and surrounding areas, urging residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
