15 perish in Kamdini bus accident

15 people have been killed in a Friday morning accident involving a bus, Registration Number UAT 259P belonging to Roblyn bus company which was travelling from Kampala to Gulu.

The bus is reported to have rammed into a stationary trailer loading at Adebe trading centre just one kilometre to corner Kamdini checkpoint at around midnight of the 6th January 2023 along Kampala-Gulu highway.

According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema PRO-North Kyoga, 11 people died on the spot while 4 others died at Atapara Hospital where they had been rushed for treatment.

Okema adds that the number of victims rushed to Atapara Hospital is yet to be established.

The dead bodies have been conveyed to Anyeke Health IV pending postmortem.

“Cause of the accident is yet to be established but preliminary findings indicate wrong parking by the trailer driver with no warning signs. It’s a very unfortunate incident, we call for calm from members of the public, our condolences to the bereaved families,” says Okema.
