147 Suspects Arrested in Major Police Crackdown Across Wakiso and Mukono

Police in Kampala Metropolitan East and South have arrested 147 suspects during coordinated disruptive operations conducted on 17th February 2026 in Wakiso and Mukono districts. The operations followed an increase in cases of robbery, mugging, burglary, and drug-related crimes.

At Kirinya Police Station in Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District, under Kira Division Police, three suspects, Waiswa Sebastiano, Omara Moses Innocent, and Abila Jimmy, were arrested for allegedly waylaying and assaulting members of the public while armed with a panga, sticks, a brick, and a paver.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said that in Kyampisi Sub-county, Mukono District, Nagalama Police Division arrested 13 suspects in Kabembe Suburb for possession of suspected narcotic substances.

Meanwhile, Kabalagala Police Division under KMP South arrested 125 suspects from Kansanga, Nsambya, Kabalagala, and Kibuli over suspected involvement in criminal activities and possession of suspected narcotics.

In Wantoni, Mukono Central Division, police, working together with the UPDF, arrested six suspects and recovered two unregistered motorcycles suspected of being used in committing crimes.

All suspects remain in custody pending prosecution. Police have assured the public that such disruptive operations will continue in identified crime hotspots to enhance the safety and security of the community.
