Three Dead, Six Injured in Mukono Road Crash

Three people have died, and six others were injured in a road crash that occurred today, February 26, 2025, at around 8:40 a.m. in Namataba, along the Jinja-Kampala highway in Mukono Division.

The accident involved two trailers—registration numbers UAW 217A/UBJ 930T and KCF 002P/ZF 3628—along with pedestrians, commercial structures, and a residential house.

According to reports, the driver of trailer UAW 217A/UBJ 930T, which was transporting cement from Jinja to Kampala, lost control after hitting a pothole at high speed. The vehicle then crashed into a commercial structure, a stationary trailer, and a residential house.

At the time of the accident, there were eight people inside the commercial structures. Three of them died instantly.

SP Kananura Michael, the spokesperson for the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, confirmed that the injured included five people from the commercial structures and the driver of the UAW 217A/UBJ 930T trailer. They were rushed to different health facilities for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Kawolo Hospital Mortuary.

The vehicles involved in the accident were towed to Mukono Police Station for further investigation.
