Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Stabbing Ex-Boyfriend to Death in Rubaga

Police in Natete have arrested a woman in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on the night of 12 March 2026 in Wakaliga Zone B, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

The suspect has been identified as Nantongo Hadijjah, a 32-year-old resident of Wakaliga Zone B, while the deceased is Ssebugwawo Mike, a 43-year-old mechanic and resident of the same area.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, it is alleged that at around 2:00 a.m. on 12 March 2026, Nantongo fought with her boyfriend and fatally stabbed him inside her single rented room.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect and the deceased had previously been in a relationship but had reportedly separated about two months ago.

Police further established that at around 1:00 a.m., the deceased went to Nantongo’s residence after repeatedly calling her phone without receiving a response. Upon arrival, he reportedly found the door locked while another man was inside the room.

It is alleged that the deceased forced his way into the room, leading to a fight. During the altercation, the suspect reportedly stabbed him in the chest using a sharp, broken clay plate, causing fatal injuries.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

SP Kawala condemned acts of violence in domestic settings and appealed to members of the public experiencing domestic violence to report such cases to the police so that appropriate action can be taken.
