Over 15 Young Artists Conclude 7-Month Mentorship with Captivating Performances At MCI
Over 15 talented young artists took to the stage on Sunday, September 22, at the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) Media Hub, performing to an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 fans, family members, and industry professionals.
The event marked the conclusion of a seven-month mentorship program organized by CMH LIVE, a musician collective and artist development company.
The mentorship program, which began in 2021 under the Academy Musician Fellowship Program, has provided aspiring young artists with the tools and guidance needed to grow professionally in the music industry.
This year, the program saw the participation of over 20 artists, who attended weekly masterclasses, workshops, rehearsals, and monthly showcases over the past seven months.
Speaking at the event, Collin Sserunjogi, the Program Coordinator and Team Lead at CMH LIVE, emphasized the importance of building a supportive artistic community where musicians can uplift one another.
“We’ve seen tremendous growth from all the participating artists throughout the seven months, not just in their music but in their overall approach to professionalism in the industry,” said Sserunjogi.
The final showcase was attended by industry leaders, fellow artists, music professionals, and supporters, making it an impactful networking event for young talents. Standout performances from artists such as Lily Ahabwe, a former hit song artist best known for “Beera Nange” with Tonics, and new artists like Kasereka, Jerome the Storyteller, Sandra K (The Busoga Princess), Charmic Ssentongo, Haile, and Shawn Otim, captivated the audience with their original music and dynamic performances.
The Academy Musician Fellowship Program is free of charge and opens its doors to 20–25 young artists each year. Artists are encouraged to apply at the start of the year to secure a spot in the mentorship, which offers hands-on experience, career development resources, and a chance to perform live for a growing fanbase.
