Museveni and Accomplice Nabbed in Police Waragi Crackdown
Officers from the Uganda Police Force in Moroto have impounded a vehicle loaded with 20 jerricans of illicit waragi and arrested two suspects.
IP Longole Mike, the Acting PRO Mt Moroto/ASTU, says the operation, which took place on February 5, 2025, at around 2200 hours at Kabei checkpoint, marked a major victory for the police in their relentless war against the illegal trade in banned substances.
Longole revealed that officers intercepted a Fuso truck, registration number UBE 084W, transporting the illicit waragi. The driver, Mr. Toyek Allan, a 26-year-old businessman, and his accomplice, Museveni Titus, a 30-year-old male, were arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
“We are committed to keeping our communities safe and free from the scourge of illicit activities. This operation demonstrates our unwavering resolve to enforce the law and bring perpetrators to justice,” said Longole.
The suspects are currently facing charges related to the possession and transportation of illegal waragi. Longole urged public members to report any suspicious activity related to illicit waragi or other illegal dealings to the nearest police station.
