Police at Kira road are searching for 14 men travelling on 7 motorbikes who attacked Jiwan Lal an accountant at Rigil agro peck limited in Kololo.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at around 12PM, along Mawanda Road.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP, the victim was surrounded by and assaulted continuously until his money amounting to 5 million Uganda shillings and 2 phones were stolen from him.
The police recorded statements from eye witnesses and has started following up on leads that have proven helpful in identifying the suspects for arrest.
Police at Katwe are investigating a murder of a man only identified as Siraj who was allegedly stabbed by his wife, Saidat Naiga.
Owoyesigyire says the incident happened at around 1pm on Saturday, at their rented room in Ggangu, Makindye Division in Kampala City.
Police were called to the scene responded. They found the deceased’s body, examined and later conveyed it to city mortuary for a post mortem.
Naiga was also arrested after the local authorities rescued her from an angry mob and is currently detained at Katwe Police Station as investigations go on.
“We have since established according to eye witnesses, that the deceased was allegedly drunk and tried to forcefully have sex with his wife. She declined to have sex and the husband attempted to eject her from the house. Eyewitnesses said it was at this point that the fight ensued. The suspect is alleged to have picked a knife that she used to stab the deceased. We have since recovered the alleged murder weapon and exhibited it for analysis” Owoyesigyire says.
The development comes at a time when police has registered several cases of Domestic violence, rising on a daily during the second lockdown.
Police urged couples to desist from using violence as a solution to every problem experienced in their families and to always consult local authorities if violence continues in their families.
