Two students of St Joseph`s College Layibi School in Gulu City are dead while their colleague fighting for his life after they were shot in a suspected robbery.

Moses Ogwang, the Community Liaison Officer-CLO at Gulu Central Police Station identifies the deceased students as Brian Rubangakene and Emmanuel Okeny while the injured is Kenneth Rubangakene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the trio was shot by security guards from Exposs Security Group on Wednesday night while trying to gain access to Bright Valley Girls Primary and Secondary Schools in Techo Parish, Bardege-Layibi division, about one kilometer from St Joseph`s College Layibi.

According to Ogwang, Brian Rubangakene died on the scene while Emmanuel Okeny died on Thursday morning at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

Their colleague Kenneth Rubangakene sustained injuries on his legs and is admitted to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital. They were all Senior Four candidates.

Ogwang explains that more than ten students jumped over the wall fence of Bright Valley Girls Primary and Secondary Schools through the backyard around 9:30 pm and moved towards the school store section but were spotted by security guards, who opened fire.

Seven other students believed to have been part of the group have since been arrested after returning to their school and are currently locked up at Gulu Central Police Station.
