Forum for Democratic Change, FDC Party candidate, also incumbent Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has beaten 10 other candidates to retain his seat.
Lukwago was announced winner of on Thursday afternoon after polling 194,592 votes in the Wednesday January 20th 2021 polls. He beat his closes rival and National Unity Platform, NUP party candidate Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala who polled 60,082, a difference of 134,510.
According to the final results announced by Mulimira Barbra the Returning Officer for Kampala Electoral District, the ruling National Resistance Movement candidate Daniel Kazibwe alias Ragga Dee came in third position with 23,388 votes while his fellow singer Joseph Mayanja alias Chameleone came in fourth position with 12, 212 votes.
In 5th position was Democratic Party’s Charles Ssenkubuge with 2,355 votes, followed by Independent candidates; Kawooya Innocent with 762, Micheal Evans Mugabi with 522, Eddie Kibalama with 490, Alliance for National Transformation candidate Yakubu Musaazi with 478, independent candidates Isaac Sendagire and Ben Lule with 386 and 325 respectively.
Lukwago who joined the opposition FDC party shortly before nomination was assured of a win and had already congratulated his voters by Wednesday night.
