Security Forces takeover NUP Offices in Kampala

Security forces have rounded off the National Unity Platform offices in Kamwokya.

According to the Party President’s twitter handle, heavily armed military and police have raided their party offices, with no one allowed in or out.

“Heavily armed military and police have once again raided our party offices in Kampala. No one allowed to go in or come out. Museveni after committing the most vile election fraud in history, has resorted to the most despicable forms of intimidation” Kyagulanyi’s handle says.

For the last four or so days, security has been heavily deployed outside Kyagulanyi’s house and no one, including the press and other NUP leaders has been allowed in.

“It’s now four days since the military surrounded our home and placed my wife and I under house arrest. We have run out of food supplies and when my wife tried to pick food from the garden yesterday, she was blocked and assaulted by the soldiers staged in our compound” Kyagulanyi wrote on Sunday.

On Sunday, Kyagulanyi released a statement requesting all party members to remain calm and not engage in any form violence as the NUP leadership prepares to challenge the election results announced on Saturday afternoon, putting President Yoweri Museveni in the lead and winner of the election.

“I therefore take this painful but nonetheless inevitable leadership decision of urging you to desist from any form of violence as we prepare to challenge the election outcome & its glaring imperfections through the courts of law for the sake of our longterm victory & for Uganda” he said.
