The forum for democratic change party spokesperson, also Kiira Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has mourned the late former Kampala City Maypr El-Haj Nasser Ntege Sebaggala aka Seya and praised him for kicking the ruling NRM party out of Kampala.
While addressing the press at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday, Nganda said Sebaggala will also be remembered for inspiring the urban poor and uneducated to participate in elections and choosing who their leaders would be.
“His rise to Mayor in 1998 came approximately two years after Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere who was a torch bearer for the opposition combined had lost the 1996 general election. So, Sebaggala restored hope and from then onwards, the NRM has never won Kampala” Nganda said.
He added that Sebaggala built a foundation for the opposition in Kampala and they will always remember him for that.
Ssebagala died on Saturday 26th September 2020 at International Hospital Kampala where he was rushed with abdominal complications. At the time of his death, Sebaggala had joined NUP and was hoping to carry the party flag for Lord Mayor seat.
