The police criminal investigations department, CID is investigating the fires than razed down Makerere University’s main building over the weekend.
The two fired destroyed one of the oldest buildings at the campus and some official documents in offices housed under in.
According to Twiine Mansio the CID spokesperson, experts have conferenced with investigators and they had a last meeting today morning to get to the root cause of the fires.
“They have agreed that on Wednesday 30th September at midday, the experts will come with their report and share it with the CID. The CID will then use their procedures to evaluate the experts’ reports and if it is established that the fire that gutted the iconic Ivory Tower was associated with a crime of Arson, we shall know who did it” Twine said.
He added that if they find out that the fire was an accident, they will share the report with the relevant authorities.
